Questions & Answers

Is it secure? Absolutely. Our pioneering technology (U.S. Patent US60/606,287, pending) ensures that only you or somebody who has authenticated access to your web server (such as your webmaster) can change your entry in our listings.

Why should I want to add an image to my entry? It will make you more visible! A well designed entry with an eye-catching image accompanied with clear, accurate, and compelling text will make your entry stand out among others, and increase your click rate.

Can I use any image I want? No! You must strictly adhere to the SIP Code of Ethics (which may be viewed here). In particular, you may not use any image or text that promotes adult or pornographic material, exploitation of women, children, racial and ethnic division, violence and hate groups. Any material you display in your entry must be suitable for young children under the age of 12.

Can I use any text I want? No! See the previous paragraph.

What are the examples of images I can use? Basically, you can use any image that you think represents YOU best. If you have a personal web site, it may be a neat idea to use your personal photo so that your friends can easily recognise you. If you have a commercial web site, then you may use your company logo or trade mark. If you are a government institution, a school, or a non-profit organization, then again it is best to use your institutional logo. If you have a cultural web site, you may use any art work for which you own the copyright, or for which you have explicit permission from the copyright owner.

What are the examples of images I can NOT Use? In addition to the restrictions highlighted by red above, you cannot use somebody else's banner, logo, trademark, photo, or any artwork for which the copyright does not belong to you. In addition, you cannot use any image or text that may misrepresent you as being somebody else. It is a violation of law to misguide the public, villingly or inadvertently, so as to be confused as another company, organization, or person.

What happens if I violate the SIP code of ethics or break the law? Our livelihood depends on your responsible conduct, so we take violations very seriously. Your ability to enter your web site information is governed by certain "Terms of Service" that you will agree prior to entering your data.
